A focus on crime prevention and awareness
Safer Business Action Week (SaBA Week) is an annual police-led initiative by the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC) that ran last week from 10–14 November 2025.
The week of action sees Business Crime Reductions Partnerships (BCRPs) and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) working in collaboration with police, local authority and town centre businesses to identify prolific offenders, offer crime prevention advice and carry out joint patrols.
The Town Centre BID has engaged in a series of activities, spearheaded by Jackie Arnold, Business Crime Liaison Officer, to support the week of action.

Business Crime Reduction Partnership meeting
Jackie, along with Paul Kinvig, Chief Operating Officer of the BID, met with Dorset Police, the NPT Inspector, BCP Council CSAS officers, UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC) and key town centre businesses on Wednesday 12 November at the regular BCRP meeting.
The discussions included exclusion schemes, reporting, future plans, and collaboration to improve intelligence sharing and help create safer spaces for businesses. The meeting finished with a presentation on Crime Prevention and advice from Dorset Police.

Business visits
Jackie visited 37 businesses including both nationals and independents across the town centre during the week of action, discussing the SentrySIS crime reporting system, and troubleshooting any issues.
If you have any queries about the SentrySIS system, or you are not currently using it and wish to find out more, please get in touch on info@towncentrebid.co.uk

Joint patrols
Jackie undertook a number of joint patrols with CSAS officers, PCSOs, the BCP Council ASB officer and BCP Youth officer over the course of the week, with some businesses visited together.
The aim of SaBA Week is to create a visible and proactive presence in retail and business areas, helping to deter offending, and highlight the importance of reporting incidents.

Evening patrol
On Thursday 13 November, Jackie joined Victoria Sheppard, Nighttime Economy Co-ordinator, along with representatives from Dorset Police and UKPAC for an evening patrol.
Despite the rain, it proved a successful evening with the team stopping in at the Triangle and the events in the Lower Gardens.
