BIDs
A BID (Business Improvement District) is a geographically defined area where businesses come together and agree to invest collectively in projects and services which improve their trading environment.
BIDS were first established in 2004 and there are now more than 300 BIDs in towns and cities across the UK.
They have been widely credited with supporting high streets through challenging times like Covid and the rise of internet-based retail, and in playing a key role in helping town and city centres manage changing consumer demands and expectations as the debate continues over what the future will look like.
BIDS are no longer just about increasing footfall.
They play a central role in helping to create safer, cleaner, more attractive, and vibrant town centres, where people want to come more often and stay longer.
From the levy paid by the business community, a significant fund is built up that can make a real difference.
