Town Centre BID Helps Bournemouth Businesses Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour

 Addressing the needs of town centre businesses, the Bournemouth Town Centre BID has hosted an informative anti-social behaviour business advice seminar.

The Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has held its latest business advice seminar at Sharkeys Sports Bar on Old Christchurch Road. Focusing on the topic of anti-social behaviour, the two hour-long event brought together representatives from Bournemouth’s town centre business community, Bournemouth Borough Council Enforcement Representatives, Bournemouth and Poole Rough Sleepers Team and the Town Centre BID Rangers. Offering valuable advice, the seminar was free for Town Centre BID levy-payers.

Introducing a new format, the seminar encouraged attending businesses to have an open discussion about issues facing the town centre. They were then given advice and information on how to handle anti-social behaviour including issues such as rough sleeping and begging, and the appropriate service to contact. For begging or anti-social behaviour, businesses can contact the Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) team on 07384 790036. If there are concerns about a homeless person, businesses are encouraged to contact St Mungo’s on 01202 315962. If a crime has been committed, then it should be reported to the Police on 101 or online at www.dorset.police.uk/do-it-online. Aiming to improve the overall trading environment the Town Centre BID currently funds its own team of Town Centre Rangers. The Rangers have close links to the Council, Police, CCTV and Shopwatch Scheme. Representing an important bridge between businesses and the security services, their consistent patrolling presence helps to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
