  • The Bournemouth Town Centre BID has hosted a free business advice seminar on the impact of stress and how to increase wellbeing in the workplace.

Across the country, half a million people are absent from work every year with stress, depression and anxiety, costing UK businesses up to £42bn a year. The Bournemouth Town Centre BID has hosted an expert-led seminar to provide levy paying businesses with free and invaluable advice on tackling this issue.

Held at Koh Lounge in Bournemouth’s Triangle, the seminar focused on important issues such as managing organisational and individual stress to increase overall wellbeing and productivity in the workplace. It also gave local Business Owners and Managers advice on developing flexible and productive strategies to help develop and support staff.

Free to attend for Town Centre BID levy payers, the seminar was led by Katrina Thomas, Business Psychologist and Director of the Global Unity Collective. An expert in her field, Katrina offers businesses effective pressure management solutions and new cutting-edge psychometric assessments.

Katrina Thomas said:

“Workplace stress can have substantial consequences for employees, their family members, and employers. Affecting well-being, productivity, and costs, it is important for businesses of all sizes to manage stress and mental health in the workplace. Speaking to Bournemouth town centre businesses I gave expert advice on pressure-management training techniques, so they can help employees deal with the day-to-day demands of any job.’’

Paul Kinvig, Chief Operating Officer of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said:

“We have all experienced stress at work at some point in our lives and we all manage it in different ways. It was great to hear from Katrina and learn more about how to effectively deal with stress as an individual and as an organisation.’’

One of a series of business seminars for Town Centre BID levy payers, the next event will be a dedicated ‘Cyber Essentials Masterclass.’ Taking place on Wednesday 20th June, levy payers can find out about protecting their organisation against cyber attacks and common cyber threats.
