Shopkeepers’ Campaign for Business Rate Reform

by | Feb 17, 2021 | News

The lockdowns have exposed and accelerated the vulnerability of high street and town centre retail to the advantage of online sales. Whilst market competition is a positive for our economy, high street retailers should not have to pay such high levels of business rates which put online retail at an unfair advantage.

Bournemouth Town Centre BID is supporting Revo with their Shopkeeper’s Campaign for business rates reform, aiming to influence the Treasury on business rates reform before the budget announcement on the 3rd of March.

In order to do this, they have created a tool which allows individuals to send a letter to their MP calling for business rates reform in less than 30 seconds.

We ask if you could sign and share the campaign, circulate it amongst your networks and post it on your social media accounts.

The more influence that is brought to bear, the greater the likelihood of fundamental reforms being brought forward so that businesses can operate with a lower cost base long into the future and thereby ensure their viability.

Many thanks for taking this next step in the campaign to cut and reform business rates.
