THE campaign for a cleaner and greener Bournemouth has been boosted by six new recycling bins.
They are located across the town centre area in a scheme sponsored by Specsavers, as part of our Clean & Green strategy. The bins take glass, plastic and cans and will be emptied by staff from BCP Council.
BID Head Ranger, Bob Carter, said: “It’s all part of the drive to encourage people to be responsible in doing their bit for the environment, especially in the context of the climate change agenda. Everyone can do something and the bins will make a big difference to the town. We really appreciate the sponsorship from Specsavers and the assistance from the council.”
The bins are sited in the Lansdowne, Horseshoe Common, Old Christchurch Road, the Square and the Triangle.
The Retail Director of Specsavers in Old Christchurch Road, Dan Ormesher, said: “We were really keen to get involved and work with the BID to make a difference to the town centre. The environmental focus is a very important thing for us so the recycling initiative is perfect and is the first of a number of community projects we hope to help with.”
