Make Bournemouth town centre a “carer friendly” shopping destination by advertising for free to the 7,000 plus unpaid carers registered with Dorset, Bournemouth & Poole Councils. All you need to do is to offer a small discount from your business. Businesses are supplied with a window sticker once they have joined and the details of their offer are displayed on two websites www.mycarerscard.co.uk and https://www.mylifemycare.com/directory-of-carers-card-scheme-members where carers are signposted to find out where to use their card.
This is an official scheme funded by Dorset County Council, Bournemouth Borough Council, The Borough of Poole and Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group, launched on 6 June 2016 as part of celebrating National Carers Week, aimed at creating carer friendly communities and in recognition of the contribution that carers make. Carers UK recently announced: “We have found that the value of the contribution made by carers in the UK is now £132 billion each year – that’s a fifth of UK Government spending.”
