Town Centre Businesses Receive Expert Advice on Motivation

  • The Bournemouth Town Centre BID has hosted a free business advice seminar, focusing on how business leaders can motivate themselves and their teams to ensure success.

Last month, 86% of SMEs in the UK reported that they were struggling with efficiency problems as a result of uninspired employees and managers. With every business and staff member inevitably experiencing a drop in motivation at some point, the Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has hosted a dedicated ‘Motivating Yourself and Your Team’ business seminar. Free to attend for Town Centre BID levy payers, the expert led seminar aimed to help local businesses face uncertainty and the challenge of improving motivation in their organisations.

The third in a series of expert-led events, the ‘Motivating Yourself and Your Team’ business advice seminar took place in Bournemouth’s Triangle at the Brewhouse & Kitchen. It was led by Susannah Brade-Waring of Aspirin Business, Senior Practitioner of Motivational Maps, whose clients include Waitrose and Merlin Entertainments.  Attendees explored the business benefits of motivation and employee engagement and learned how to increase both.

Susannah Brade-Waring said:

“It’s more challenging to be successful in business today for many reasons. With UK productivity 20% less than the other G7 countries, it costs more to do business in the UK.  As a former Finance Director, I know cost controls and improved processes can’t fully close this gap. There is robust evidence to show that motivation and employee engagement can, and it’s a more enjoyable way to do business.’’

Paul Kinvig, Chief Operating Officer of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said:

“We would like to thank all the town centre businesses who attended our last business advice seminar. Susannah provided some excellent advice which will inspire local businesses, help them to motivate their teams and ultimately succeed.’’

One of a series of business seminars for Town Centre BID levy payers, the next event will be entitled ‘Stress & Mental Health in the Workplace.’ Taking place on Wednesday 16th May, levy payers have the opportunity to learn about flexible, productive strategies to increase wellbeing in their workplace.
