The Town Centre BID’s first Comedy Festival was a huge success, with five of the six venues hosting sell out audiences. A total of 736 tickets were sold out of a possible 788!
The festival, curated for the BID by Coastal Comedy, took place at DNA, Brass Haus, Camel, Post, Odeon, and Revolution between October 4th-8th.
Paul Kinvig, the BID’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are a absolutely delighted it was such a tremendous success.
It was something very different for us and a great series of events supporting our brilliant night-time economy. It’s our desire to help deliver an even bigger event next year!”
The BID’s Business Liaison Officer, Susie O’Neill, said: “It certainly brought smiles to a lot of faces at a time when we can all do with much more laughter.
Adrienne Coles, Chief Executive of Coastal Comedy said: “It was fabulous to help stage the festival and be able to bring such big acts to Bournemouth – they and the venues were fantastic.”
Comedian Andy Askins added: “It was so great to be a part of the inaugural Bournemouth Comedy Festival. There was a real a buzz in the air. There are only a few comedy festivals in the UK, and they have all gone from strength to strength.”
Ian Palmer MNAEA, Divisional Director: Hotels, Leisure and Business Transfer from levy paying business, Goadsby Commercial said: “10/10 – let’s hope the Comedy Festival is here to stay!”
