Following a meeting with senior officers, the Bournemouth Town Centre BID is renewing calls for levy payers to report retail crime directly to Dorset Police.
The more incidents that can be logged, the more evidence is then demonstrated to the police for focused police resources in the town centre.
A significant number of retail crimes, although being reported to us at the BID, are not being logged directly with the police by the retail sector.
Chief Operating Officer of Bournemouth Town Centre BID, Paul Kinvig, said: “It is important that Dorset Police is fully aware of the true extent of retail crime because these figures and can be used in identifying where personnel are targeted.”
Mr Kinvig said the quickest and easiest way to get the information to the police is by using the 101-email system.
Several crimes can be reported on one email and all incidents will be logged separately, police have confirmed to us.
◾️Please use 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk for non-aggressive crime with no harm to person
◾️Call 999 if there is an incident involving physical or verbal abuse.
