Christmas Events & Decoration

We are looking forward to the return of Christmas Tree Wonderland this November (christmastreewonderland.co.uk), but in addition, we will be supporting a number of other initiatives to brighten and animate the town throughout the festive season.

Firstly, thanks to the Triangle Quarter Group, we will be installing winter hanging baskets from the Triangle up Poole Hill, which will be replaced in Spring 2020 with summer flowering plants. It is hoped that the baskets will help to show that there is more to visit up Poole Hill, and that the area doesn’t stop at the end of the pedestrianised pavement.

Secondly, we will be delivering ‘A Very Victorian Christmas’ to Westover Road, planned by the Westover Quarter Group. Westover Road will feature Victorian decorations, with as many as possible of the businesses having Victorian themed window displays. There will also be roving characters and street performers on the weekends running up to Christmas, such as living statues, chimney sweeps and Penny Farthing riders.

Finally, we are introducing the concept of a ‘Living Advent Calendar’ to Bournemouth, with a variety of entertainment and activities taking place from Sunday 1 to Tuesday 24 December. The idea is a different activity or animation will take place each day at a set time, encouraging repeat visits to the town centre. The activities will include choirs, stilt walkers, children’s entertainers and walkabout characters.
