Christmas 2021 – What You Need To Know

by | Nov 12, 2021 | News

The Bournemouth Town Centre BID team has been working on some important festive initiatives to attract more visitors into the town over the Christmas period, create goodwill and lock spend into the town centre.

Christmas Tree Wonderland

19 November 2021 – 2 January 2022

Christmas Tree Wonderland returns to Bournemouth town centre from November 19 after last year’s absence and thanks to the Town Centre BID efforts, there will be additional festive installations in the streets of the town centre as well as the Lower Gardens.

Look out for installations in the Triangle, Commercial Road, Beale Place, Old Christchurch Road, Westover Road, Horseshoe Common, Lansdowne Roundabout and Holdenhurst Road. This will ensure the attractions in this popular event are spread over the whole Town Centre BID area.

We are thrilled to announce we are bringing back the Giant Snow Globe for Christmas this year.

For two weeks, from 29 November to 12 December, the Snow Globe will be travelling around Bournemouth town centre. People can climb inside, play in the snow and get a festive photo to take away for free, as a thank you from the BID and town centre businesses for their support.

The Snow Globe will visit the following locations:

  • 29 November to 1 December – Horseshoe Common
  • 2-4 December – The Triangle
  • 6-8 December – Westover Road

Opening hours will be 12 noon until 6pm (8pm on Thursdays).

The globe is fully ventilated between each use and touch points will be regularly sanitised. The snow is 100% biodegradable and made from corn starch, potatoes and turnips!

Bournemouth Town Centre Gift Card – Christmas Promotions

We are joining forces with the Echo and Hot Radio in a high-profile media campaign during the Christmas period to promote the Bournemouth Town Centre Gift Card to residents, visitors and the corporate business community. The campaign is focused on the Gift Card being an imaginative, different and flexible present, reward or incentive and a great way to keep spend local and support the town centre.

The Echo campaign will start on Thursday 25 November, with the Hot campaign from 19 November.

If you are one of the businesses that accepts the Gift Card, please make sure your signs and stickers are displayed in a prominent place, and ensure your staff all know about the card, to help you maximise sales.

If you’d like to sign your business up to accept the Gift Card, please contact us for information on info@towncentrebid.co.uk

Business Promotion on Christmas Tree Wonderland website

If your business is really getting into the Christmas spirit, there’s the chance for you to be promoted on the Christmas Tree Wonderland website.

Please send pictures of your shop, venue or office looking its Christmassy best to bcptourism@bcpcouncil.gov.uk and it may be added to the Christmas Tree Wonderland website.

It can be a fabulous Christmas window, outside decorations, or your office dressed up with trees and tinsel – anything that shows your business getting festive.
