Time for a spring clean! Volunteers needed as Big Bournemouth Clean Up returns
- The Town Centre Business Improvement District calls for town centre businesses and volunteers to join forces and help give Bournemouth a spring clean.
For the second year running, the Big Bournemouth Clean Up is back to prepare Bournemouth’s town centre for the busy Easter Break. Willing volunteers are asked to join the Town Centre BID Rangers and the Dorset Devils on Wednesday 28th March from 11.00 am to 1pm, as they unite again to spruce-up Bournemouth in time for the tourist season.
The Big Bournemouth Clean Up is an initiative launched by the Town Centre BID, a not for profit company working on behalf of the businesses in Bournemouth town centre. After the huge success of last year’s clean up, the Town Centre BID is rallying businesses and the public to once again join forces and restore pride in the town centre by making it litter-free.
The volunteer-led environmental initiative will be clearing up some of Bournemouth’s most littered streets, starting from Horseshoe Common, outside Turtle Bay, and continuing onto Old Christchurch Road.. The group will be working its way through the town centre, covering Lansdowne to the Triangle.
The Town Centre BID’s ‘Clean and Green’ programme covers a range of activities, including a dedicated cleaner for Bournemouth town centre, fly tipping removal and a number of projects to improve the look and feel of Bournemouth town centre. All activities are over and above the service provided by the local council and aim to help Bournemouth town centre to effectively compete with other centres across the UK.
Paul Kinvig, Chief Operating Officer at Town Centre BID, said:
“Our town centre needs a good spring clean before Easter and we would be delighted to see representatives from town centre businesses as well as members of the public join forces with the Rangers to make our town centre area litter free. Litterpicking equipment will be provided so please don’t hesitate to get involved!”
