A whole new experience with Alice in Spring

The Town Centre BID teamed up with Arts University Bournemouth and its students to facilitate an imaginative and interactive Alice in Wonderland-themed event.

Alice in Spring took place in several locations across the town centre on the weekend of 21 and 22 May, including Horseshoe Common, Lansdowne, Beale Place, BH2 and the Triangle.

It featured live theatre, circus performance, stilt characters, face painting and live music.

Victorian tea party performers took part alongside roaming actors, trapeze artists, unicyclists, and jugglers.

An interactive smartphone map and experience directed users across the town, taking cues from multiple locations and shops, with prizes on offer.

The event was designed and planned by students from AUB’s BA (Hons) Events Management course and was enjoyed by many residents and visitors who described it as wonderful and bringing a whole new experience to the town centre.

Such was the success that more initiatives may be planned to attract people to the town centre.

Paul Kinvig, Chief Operating Officer of Bournemouth Town Centre BID, said: “We very much enjoyed working with AUB and its Events Management students to shape and deliver a brilliant, imaginative, and fun experience that brought people to the town centre from far and wide. The feedback was superb.”
