Age Friendly Training

The first free Age Friendly customer service training session took place on 13 January at the Cosy Club.

The training is part of the Age Friendly Cities initiative, delivered by BID director Rachel Woodward Carrick, and based on research undertaken by Bournemouth University. It provides practical advice for serving older people more confidently and effectively, and is free for Bournemouth Town Centre BID levy payers.

Rachel said: “Older customers are vital and valuable, but many face barriers in visiting our town centre – from limited seating to inaccessible shop fronts. This initiative is about removing those barriers and building a town centre that works better for everyone.”

Attendees said:

  • “Makes me more aware of what we should be doing and reinforcing this to staff”
  • “interesting to hear data related to age concerns”
  • “eye-opening to consider % of over-50s and their spend potential”

The next seminar will be held on Thursday 19 February from 9.30am-11.45am. If you are a Bournemouth Town Centre BID levy payer and would like to book, let us know on info@towncentrebid.co.uk.
