BIDs Launch Vote ‘YES’ Campaign
- Bournemouth’s Town Centre and Coastal Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have unveiled ambitious Business Plans for a further five years at a renewal launch event.
Welcoming stakeholders, levy paying businesses and the Mayor of Bournemouth at Beales Department Store, Bournemouth, the Town Centre BID and Coastal BID have launched their 2017-2022 Business Plans. They are now inviting businesses to continue the BIDs for another five years and vote ‘YES’ when ballot papers are posted on 2nd May 2017.
Presentations on the importance of the BIDs were delivered by Dr Julie Grail, a leading expert on UK BIDs, plus Paul Clarke, Chairman of the Coastal BID, and Martin Davies, Chairman of the Town Centre BID and a partner with Rawlins Davy Solicitors, who outlined the business plans. Together they encouraged local businesses to invest collectively in projects and services which will improve Bournemouth’s unique trading environment.
Dr Julie Grail said:
“The Bournemouth Coastal BID is an excellent and quite unique example of regional place management embracing strategic destination marketing alongside very local tangible district delivery. The Bournemouth Town Centre BID has a proven track record of increasing footfall in its first term through excellent tangible projects including Rangers and collaborative Christmas initiatives.”
Martin Davies commented:
“We have achieved much success in the last five years, making the town safer, more welcoming and more vibrant. Following extensive consultation, it was a pleasure to finally unveil our new business plan. With the support of town centre businesses, together we aim to drive the town forward for the next five years.’’
Paul Clarke said:
“The event was an excellent way to launch our ‘Yes’ campaign ahead of the renewal. It was great to see so many businesses in attendance and ready to show their support. We have now laid down exciting plans to deliver more quality events, innovative marketing, and new business opportunities.’’
Once the ballot papers are posted, businesses will have just under a month to cast their votes before ballots close on the 2nd June 2017. A ‘Yes’ vote from businesses will allow the BIDs to pursue their objectives for another five years. These objectives include tailored marketing, events, and business support to promote Bournemouth as a destination and attract visitors all year round.
